G.0.138.- (1) Sanitary Inspectors are recommended to enter

for the following examinations of the Royal Sanitary Institute :-

(a) Sanitary Inspectors;

(b) Inspectors of Meat and other Foods;

(c) Sanitary Science as applied to Buildings and Public works;

(d) Tropical Hygiene for Inspectors.

The fees charged for the examinations and for attendance at the corresponding courses of lectures arranged by the Institute will be refunded by Government to all Inspectors who have obtained the permission of the Head of the Sanitary Department to complete or who, having entered without that permission, have received

certificates of having passed such examinations.

(2) An Inspector who passes (a) before reaching the 4th step in the incremental scale may be given an immediate increment of £10 and an Inspector who, having passed (a), passes in one or more

of (b), (c) or (d) before reaching the 4th step may be given a

further increment of £10.

Such extra increments will not affect

the ordinary date of Service increments; nor will they operate so as to give an officer a salary higher than the maximum of the 2nd Class £350 per annum.

(3) An Inspector who has passed the examination for Sanitary Inspectors of the Royal Sanitary Institute and two examinations in Cantonese colloquial may be granted salary at

a rate not less than £300 per annum, and in such a case subsequent increments will be reckoned from the date of coming on that rate

of salary.

(4)

Qualifications possessed at the time of first engagement

count for increments as above from the date of engagement.
